Anonymous Portraits

This will document my process of working with anonymous portraiture. I've been inspired by faceless  or mysterious portraiture and the curiosity that anonymity provokes. Portraiture is a revealing, intimate theme, so what happens when we're unable to see the subject?

(17/10/2014) I sat across from this man on the train and found what he did after I took the image interesting and so, shared the occurrence as a narrative in accompaniment to the image.

(11/11/2014) I photographed this artist under "The Tunnel" in Waterloo. It is a famous, free and legal place for graffiti artists. After taking the photo, I looked back to see this artist walk to the other side of the tunnel wall and take a good look at his work.

(11/11/2014) While looking out the window at the passing trains, I noticed the reflection of this person looking intently into his phone and smiling away.

Visual Letters

Here, I will be documenting my 'Visual Letters' process. I plan to create photographs depicting a message to my brother, who will then draw/paint his response onto the image and return to me. My bother has Down syndrome and has remained selectively mute for several years. As we are both artistic, this will be a more useful and therapeutic way for us to communicate, living so far away from one another.

I plan to create images every Thursday and at the end of each month review them and send a selection of imagery for him to respond to.

These images were taken before considering this project with my brother. I feel I need to 'speak' these to him and feel they are relevant towards our relationship. I look forward to seeing how he responds to them.

Art Everyday Project [June 2014]

INFO
Art Everyday Project was started with three other Caymanian artist friends/family. The collages of my image-making represent each week's works. This journey has encouraged my experimentation, broadened my inspirations and perspectives and allowed me to reflect on specific themes.

MATERIALS
I have worked with various mediums, including ink, acrylic, PVA glue, photography, appropriation art, collage, paint apps, and unconventional materials, such as plastic wrap, zip ties and cardboard.

THEMES
My themes have been about life, death, identity, differences, pain, pleasure, beauty, reflection, splitting, narcism, journey and destination.
